About
I’m a network engineer at heart, but at some point I became a manager. As I still can’t won’t let the nerd in me be silenced, I’ve decided to revisit my old blog and fill it with new life from my technical endeavours.
Expect a lot of mixed topics in the areas of networking, 3D printing, hardware hacking, DMR radios and a lot of other stories I come across in my life that I think are worth sharing. I don’t know where this blog is going yet, but I’m looking forward to finding out.
Career
A somewhat chronological list of my engagements can be found below. In 2022 I founded my own consultancy and enjoy taking on projects from small consultations to multi-year projects. If you would like to work with me, please contact hello@noscito.network.
- Director of Business Development at said Tier1 Carrier
- External CTO and CEO of a national ISP which I successfully sold to a Tier1 Carrier
- Freelance consultant for my own company
- Head of Network Architecture for a global cloud provider
- Network Strategy Manager for a global CDN
- Various roles from Network Intern to Head of Networks at a national data centre provider
- System and Network Administrator for an ISP buying group
Community Engagement
Since the age of 14, I’ve dedicated much of my free time to various communities. It’s to this involvement that I owe most, if not all, of my knowledge, soft skills and career.
- Stuttgart-IX: Stuttgart-IX has always played a role in my career, and it hurt me to see it lose traction and decay after the main driver passed away too early in 2015. In 2019 the community decided that they wanted a local IX run by the community. Together with a small but excellent team, I’ve rebuilt the IXP from scratch during the 2020 pandemic and watched it grow from 5G to 159G peak and become one of Germany’s largest independent IXPs.
- DENOG e.V.: After attending my first DENOG conference in 2015, I’ve been involved as chairman of the programme committee until 2023. I’m a founding member of the non-profit association and served as a board member from 2018 to 2022. Since 2022 I am honoured to serve the association as Vice President of the Board. I’ve also been one of the core conference organisers since 2016, and have seen the conference grow from ~100 to over 550 attendees.
- Chaos Computer Club: I joined the CCC after attending their annual convention and camps. I’m not active in any political or day-to-day efforts of the club, but I generally support their efforts. During Chaos Communication Congresses and Camps, I’m part of the amazing c3noc, which runs the network for over ten thousand participants, building networks in all sorts of weird places.
- shack e.V. / shackspace: The stuttgart hackerspace is an open workshop and meeting place for various tech communities and enthusiasts in Stuttgart. I co-founded the hackerspace in 2010 at the age of 14 and have seen it grow to over 200 members. I was a member of the board from 2013 to 2015 and the chairman of the board from 2015 to 2018.
